Abstract
Sustainable Development is not possible with solitary effort, it needs strong support from the country, and its people. The government is shouldered by Corporates or private companies in fulfilling the SDG targets, in form of CSR actions. To achieve SDGs, work must be done on the approach of people, their perception needs to be positively influenced to bring real change. Here comes the role of FBOs or Faith Based Organizations. As stated by Iyad Abumoghli, director of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) Faith for Earth initiative, “The potential aggregate impact of faith-based organizations on sustainable development is immense,”
The central enquiry of the research is How faith-based organizations are contributing towards the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals? How do these organizations influence the members to voluntarily work on SDGs? What can be learned? The research paper aims to find a possible answer to this question by presenting the case of BSG (Bharat Soka Gakkai) and inferred learning from the successful efforts toward Sustainable Development.
